The first TRADR Joint Exercise (TJEx) took place in Italy in Calambrone, near Pisa. As part of the user-centric development process adopted by the TRADR project, the first TJEx plays an important role in establishing and maintaining close contact with our end-users. This year, our primary partner has been the Italian Fire Brigade (VVdF). We ran experiments using the current state TRADR system, collected valuable feedback from the experts in the field, and witnessed an exercise of the Pisa USAR team.
The experiments give us confidence that we’re on the right track with our hybrid human-robot teaming approach; the involvement of the end-users — with whom we’ve been collaborating in the previous project, NIFTi, as well — are an essential part of the TRADR approach.
